Getting Started with the Y NSW App

Why should I download the Y NSW App?

The Y NSW App puts everything you need in the palm of your hand, from group fitness class bookings and workout tracking to managing memberships, enrolling in programs like Learn to Swim and Learn to Play, and booking court or lane hire. 
It’s your one-stop tool to stay connected with your Y centre, simplify your schedule, and take control of your health and wellbeing.

What devices are compatible with the Y NSW App?

The Y NSW App works on both iOS and Android smartphones. For best results, use the latest version of your device's operating system. The app may not be fully compatible with tablets or older phones. 

How do I download and set up the app?

You can download the app for free from: 

  • The Apple App Store (iOS devices) 

  • Google Play Store (Android devices

Account, Access and Login

Will there be a system shutdown during the transition to the new Y NSW App?

Yes. There will be a short system downtime overnight to allow us to complete the changeover, so you’ll need to ensure you’ve booked all your classes prior to 5pm on Wednesday the 13th August for Group Fitness class bookings up to and including Thursday the 14th of August (using the current version of the Y NSW app). 

On Thursday 14 August, you’ll be able to view, book or cancel your group fitness classes in the new upgraded app! Once we have the system ready, you’ll receive an email from us with everything you need to upgrade your current version, or download the app if you haven’t yet used it before.  

Once you’re in the new App, you’ll already see your bookings for the 14th, and if there are spots available on the same day, you can jump in and book them right then and there. From this time, you’ll also be able to go ahead and book your future classes up to three days in advance. 

Do I need to create a new login for the Y NSW App, if I’ve used it before

No. Current customers will receive an email on August 14th inviting you to download or update the Y NSW App. If you’ve used the Y NSW App before, you will already have an account and can login using your email and password. 

Haven’t used the Y NSW App before? We’ll invite you to download the App and login.

If you’ve not used the Y NSW App before, you’ll receive an email inviting you to Download the Y NSW App and create your account. Your email address (linked to your Y membership) will already be populated in the system. However, you’ll need to complete your profile details and set a new password to finish creating your account. 

What if my contact details have changed or I’m not getting updates?

Please visit your local Y centre to confirm your mobile number and email address are up to date. This ensures you receive all important notifications and reminders through the app.

How do I add a family member to my app account?

To enrol another child or family member: 

  • Tap Add Family Member in your profile 

  • Follow the prompts to enter their details 

  • You’ll then be able to manage their bookings and attendance from your account 

Can I manage multiple children’s bookings under one login?

Yes. You can add multiple children under your profile. This allows you to manage program enrolments, class attendance, and make-up bookings from one app account. 

Membership and Payments

What can I do with the Y NSW App?

With the Y NSW App, you can; 

Easily Manage your account!

  • Edit and Update your profile 

  • View bookings and make purchases 

  • Securely make and manage payments/purchases

Will I be charged to use the Y NSW App?

No. The app is free to download and use.

If I make a purchase within the App, will there be charges?

Yes, credit card surcharges will now be passed on when making payments through the app or our billing system (Payrix).

Is my data safe in the Y NSW App?

Yes. The app is powered by PerfectGym and Payrix Australia Pty Ltd, both of which comply with Australian privacy and data security standards. Your personal and payment details are encrypted and securely stored.

Group Fitness Class Bookings

How do I book a group fitness class in the app?

To book a class: 

  1. Tap the Group Fitness Timetable banner on the home screen 

  1. Select your preferred date 

  1. Tap Book next to the class you want 

  1. Join the waitlist if the class is full 

  1. Tap Remind Me for classes outside the 3-day booking window 

How far in advance can I book classes?

Bookings open 3 days in advance.

What if I can’t attend a class I’ve booked?

Please cancel your booking via the app as early as possible so other members can take your place. You can cancel up to three hours before the class starts.

Will I be notified if a spot becomes available for a Group Fitness Class?

Yes. If you're on a waitlist and a space becomes available, you’ll receive an email and be automatically booked into the class.

Learn to Swim and Learn to Play

Can I manage my child’s Learn to Swim/Play enrolment through the app?

Yes. You can: 

  • View current class schedules and bookings 

  • Track attendance and progress 

  • Notify an absence 

  • Enrol in make-up lessons (where eligible) 

  • Update contact or billing details

I Can’t make It to a lesson, how do I book a notify an absence?

If your child is unable to attend a lesson: 

  • Login to the Y NSW App 

  • Select the tile for your program, e.g. Learn to swim 

  • Tap Notify an Absence  

  • Choose the session you’re unable to attend 

  • Confirm the absence 

How do I book a make-up Learn to Swim or Learn to Play class?

If your child is eligible for a make-up class: 

  • Login to the Y NSW App 

  • Select the tile for your program, e.g. Learn to swim 

  • Tap Book a Make-Up Class  

  • Choose from available sessions at your centre 

  • Confirm the booking in-app 

What happens if I miss a make-up class?

Make-up classes cannot be rebooked or credited if missed. Be sure to attend or cancel if you can’t make it.

Support and Troubleshooting

Who can I contact if I need help with the app?

For help with technical support, bookings, class availability or membership issues, please contact staff at your local Y centre.

I’m having trouble logging in – what should I do?

If your password isn’t working, tap Forgot Password to reset it. 
If you’re still unable to log in, check your email for typos or visit your local Y for assistance. 

Do I need internet or data to use the app?

Yes. The app requires a stable internet connection or mobile data to access live class schedules, bookings and updates.
